MAGIC BULLET PRESENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Saturday night in Armagh turned into a very special occasion for the surprised recipients of 2 lifetime achievement awards generously provided by championship sponsor Magic Bullet in recognition of achievements and contributions to motorsport down through the years.
The first recipient was Ivor Greenwood, one of life’s true characters whose adventures in motorsport read more like a boys own story. These range from his little known exploits in bike racing around the world in his early days while at the same time successfully racing Formula 2 stock cars which, in typical Ivor style, were technically advanced and beautifully prepared. A man with many strings to his bow, and these days a proud pensioner, he’s still pushing the limits of development with his Radical while also fettling some of the best competition engines in various disciplines.
Formula Libre Ireland founder and driving force Dan Daly was honoured with the second award. Dan, like Ivor, has spent a lifetime immersed in motorsport, starting out in the heyday of Formula Ford, and not content with keeping his own show on the road he put his engineering talents to use, successfully building engines in what was also a highly competitive arena where the giants of the time like Minister and Scholar battled for supremacy. Moving on to the much lamented Formula Atlantic class he set his sights on preserving and developing a place for more powerful single seater cars and from little acorns in the early noughties with the help of a dedicated bunch of pioneers, Formula Libre has steadily developed into the class we have today.
