DUNBOYNE FESTIVAL OF MOTORSPORT

The sixth Spirit of Dunboyne Festival of Motorsport took place in the historic motor sporting village on Sunday 4th September. Much has changed in and around the town in the 40 odd years since the last races took place, with much of the racing circuit now absorbed into the present infrastructure. The organisers arranged parades of various classes of contemporary and vintage cars and bikes round a course through the town and along some of the newer roads which complimented various car and bike club displays and the carnival atmosphere of the occasion. Prominent among the organisers is our own main mover and local man Dan Daly who took the opportunity to promote the class with a parade of some of the cars currently competing in the championship. Tim Crowley’s photos show the cars assembled and Daly brothers Dan and Martin driving past what was Kelly’s corner in the background.
